New types for ETPS
On 17 July Pilatus Chief Executive Officer Markus Bucher handed over the first of two PC21s ordered by Qinetiq in 2016 for the Empire Test Pilots’ School (ETPS) at Boscombe Down. The second will be delivered in the fourth quarter of this year. The pair will be used for test pilot and flight test engineer training courses starting in early 2019.”
That same day, at the Farnborough International Air Show, Colin James, Airbus Helicopters’ UK Managing Director, handed over the first H125 to Nic Anderson, Qinetiq’s Managing Director, Air and Space. Under the ETPS’S modernisation programme it will receive four H125s for its new generation single-engine helicopter fleet. All will undergo extensive customisation by Airbus Helicopters’ UK design team, equipping them with a three-axis autopilot, flight test instrumentation suite, dedicated communications equipment and a traffic awareness system.
