Bomber Command recognition

Pilot - - AIRMAIL -

Congratulations and thanks to Dave Unwin for his article in the July issue. The achievements, bravery and sacrifices of those remarkable crews warrant a far greater place in our history. As the son of a Bomber Command navigator I know from personal experience that the lack of recognition has been a hurtful and inexplicable omission to those who deserved better. They did as they were asked (confirmed in my father’s unpublished memoirs of his wartime and post-conflict flying career).

I fully support the call for a campaign medal. It is long overdue even though it is too late for the men themselves. In the meantime, thanks to the BBMF and to Pilot magazine for keeping the memory alive. Peter Cole, Crowthorne
