RAF Air­bus He­li­copters train­ing fleet com­plete

Air­bus He­li­copters’ com­ple­tion of de­liv­ery of 29 He­lion­ix­e­quipped H135 Junos and three H145 Jupiters ear­lier this year marked the end of the de­liv­ery phase of its UK Mil­i­tary Flight Train­ing Sys­tems (MFTS) con­tract. In early Oc­to­ber the com­pany also com­pleted its ser­vice pro­vi­sion build-up at RAFS Shaw­bury and Val­ley. Ser­vice en­try of the H135 and H145 this year marked 45 con­tin­u­ous years and three gen­er­a­tions of Air­bus he­li­copters and their pre­de­ces­sors pro­vid­ing mil­i­tary fly­ing train­ing in the UK fol­low­ing the se­lec­tion of the (then Aerospa­tiale) SA341 Gazelle in 1973 for the Royal Navy, Army and the RAF Cen­tral Fly­ing School (He­li­copters), and in 1997 AS350 Squir­rels for the De­fence He­li­copter Fly­ing School.
