Third Kopter SH09 to fly soon
Kopter (formerly Marenco Swisscopter) is in the pre-flight test phase of the third prototype of its SH09 light helicopter at its test and production facility in Mollis, Switzerland. There it will undergo a month of early flight testing before moving to Pozzallo, Sicily, for a 300-flight, eleven-month test programme. P3 flight-testing had been scheduled to start in March 2018, but problems with the quality of a bought-in casting in the main gearbox’s upper housing led to a sixmonth delay. A new supplier has now been found for the part.
The first pre-series SH09, P4, is in build and incorporates changes that focus on maintainability of the rotorhead, main gearbox and hydraulic system. At October’s Helitech Expo in Amsterdam Kopter announced the sale of an SH09 to new customer Systematic Aviation Services of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
