Icom IC-A25CE 8.33khz Airband VHF transceiver. Sport pack £350, Pro pack £450
Icom has introduced a lower cost, comms-only version of its new-generation IC-A25 handheld transceiver. It offers six watts of output power, ‘stylish modern design’, an easyto-use interface and large, 2.3-inch LCD. Icom says these features combine to provide stress-free programming and easy in-flight operation, and the new unit is claimed to be ideal for customers including ground support and other professional users who want a ‘no-nonsense, easy to use radio’.
Launched earlier in the year, its sister NAV COM radio, the IC-A25NE has the same features as the IC-A25CE and remains the choice for pilots who are looking for a dependable higher tier radio with Bluetooth, built-in GPS and flight plan navigation functions.
Both models are available in ‘Sport’ and ‘Pro’ packs to suit users’ requirements. The Sport pack comprises ICA25CE or IC-A25NE transceiver with BP-289 AA Battery Case, CP-20 cigarette lighter cable with DC-DC converter, MB-133 belt clip, FA-B02AR antenna and hand strap. The Pro pack is available either with the IC-A25CE or ICA25NE transceiver, and includes BP-288 Li-ion battery pack, OPC-2379 headset adapter cable, BC224 rapid desktop charger, BC-06 AC adapter, CP-20 cigarette lighter cable with DC-DC converter, MB-133 belt clip, FA-B02AR antenna and hand strap.
