All I want for Christmas...

Pilot contributors offer their list to Santa, some entries serious, some quite bonkers

Pilot - - BOOKS & GEAR -

At the other end of the scale, columnist Pat Malone wants a Leonardo (Agusta) AW109SP Grandnew [sic], custom-built to his personal specification, in metallic black with white Naugahyde leather trim, full IFR kit including TAWS, EVS avionics and all the bells and whistles. “But if it won’t fit in the sack I’ll settle for the basic Grand.”

Simple and practical requests came from flight-testers and columnists Dave Unwin, Bob Davy, Bob Grimstead and Colin Goodwin. Dave wants a really high quality multi-tool, the Victorinox Swiss Tool BS, Bob D a metre of high strength Velcro: you stick some on the back of your iphone, ipad or ipad mini and mount it conveniently on your flying panel. The other half of his gift would be a USB port wired into the aircraft “another cheap mod”. Bob G wants a 21item Leatherman Surge, “since it fulfils all the tasks of both my original Leatherman (in Australia) and the later Leatherman Wave I now have in England (oh, and a ride in a Hunter)”, while Colin would like a very small toolkit for fixing “those things that go wrong when you’re 500 miles from home”.

Contributor Nick Bloom not only knows what he wants but can tell Santa where to find it! That’s an immaculate reproduction Keil Kraft kit rubber-powered balsa model - the Auster, please, Santa. But if that’s not available, he’ll settle for a trial lesson in a glider or helicopter or a ride in the back of a two-seat Spitfire.

Possibly tongue in cheek, photographer Keith Wilson asks for a Nikon camera that always takes perfectly sharp, perfectly exposed, perfectly framed and spotless images every single time he presses the shutter, regardless of weather conditions and any other factors affecting the image!

If sir would be happy with a silver one, Avpro has this one on sale for $5.96m

Spotters would, of course, have eyes only for aircraft...
