Cirrus Aircraft Unveils Generation 2 Vision Jet
Cirrus Aircraft has begun deliveries of the Generation 2 Vision Jet, which offers increases in cruise altitude, speed and range along with Garmin’s Perspective Touch+ flight deck and improvements to the cabin. Maximum operating altitude is increased to FL310, range to more than 1,200nm. The G2 can carry an additional 150 lb of fuel on an 800nm mission and has raised maximum cruise speed further above 300kt. Perspective Touch+ features faster processing speeds and improved screen resolution, and autothrottle is now available. New Flight Stream connectivity between personal mobile devices and the flight deck enables a wide range of wireless enhancements including flight plan transfers, database updates and text messaging.
The G2’s cabin has a new executive seating configuration with centre console, stow-away tables, improved noise reduction, USB and 110V power outlets for all passengers, and a video monitor that extends from a flush overhead mount. In ‘family seating’ configuration the cabin accommodates five adults and two children, but there are 25 possible seating arrangements thanks to modular seats that can quickly be repositioned or removed.
Meanwhile, Cirrus’s co-founder Dale Klapmeier plans to step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer in the first half of this year and take on a senior advisory role. “Re-imagining personal transportation has been our lifelong mission at Cirrus Aircraft,” he says. “We’ve changed the face of aviation over the past thirty years−from delivering more than 7,000 of the world’s best-selling high-performance piston aircraft, to fundamentally rethinking how we travel with the introduction of the world’s first single-engine personal jet, to transforming our business into a lifestyle company that defines our path ahead. Transitioning out of day-to-day operations will give me the opportunity to focus on long-term strategic opportunities… I could not be more confident in the team and I am excited for what lies ahead for the entire Cirrus family… the best is yet to come.”
