Gliding past

Pilot - - NEW REGS -

When, in 2013, the CAA was required to incorporate the UK’S glider fleet into the G-register, the protocol was to take the British Gliding Association trigraph, a three-letter code starting with AAA which had by then reached KRZ, and precede it with C to get the new marks. Where that registration had already been issued, the glider’s prefix would move to D and so on. The BGA continued to issue trigraphs but with a jump to LMA to give a bit of clearance, and in-sequence gliders have reached G-CLYE, albeit with numerous spaces. However, with Lambert Mission G-CLMW, the routine insequence marks have closed the gap and will ultimately overtake, pushing the gliders into the G-DS.
