Chairman Anne Hughes reported on another very good year for the Vintage Aircraft Club at its AGM at Turweston on 27 October. With a record number of successful events behind it, including a memorable 55th anniversary fly-in at Breighton, Anne announced a busy programme for 2020 including a lunch/fly-in at Sywell in February and a return visit to Breighton on 27-28 June (see www.vintageaircraftclub.org.uk).
Unfortunately, the AGM fly-in was restricted because heavy rain in the preceding week had left the grass parking areas waterlogged. However, amongst the dozen or so vintage visitors, Auster J2 Arrow G-BEAH, J3C Cubs G-BBUU and G-BTUM, Tipsy Belfair G-APIE, and DH85 Leopard Moth G-ACUS were notable. A highlight of the day was the launch by Annette Carson of her new book Camel Pilot Supreme – Captain D V Armstrong DFC (see the review in December’s Pilot). Appropriately, she presented a copy of the book to Tony Bianchi in front of his Sopwith F.1 Camel replica N6377.
