MP: May must buck up her Brexit ideas
A CONSERVATIVE MP says the prime minister must now improve her Brexit deal after any plans for a vote without ‘substantial’ changes to last week’s were scuppered.
Fareham MP Suella Braverman took the stance yesterday after speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow intervened with a surprise ruling over a third Brexit vote.
He told MPs he would not allow a third ‘meaningful vote’ in the coming days unless it was vastly different from motions and amendments on no deal and Article 50 tabled last week.
Mrs Braverman said on Twitter: ‘I hope the PM can secure meaningful changes, but as things stand today, I wouldn’t support the deal.’
She was among the swathes of MPs who voted to keep a no-deal scenario on the table last week.
‘I was disappointed the motion was defeated, but the legal position remains unchanged,' she said. ‘The UK is leaving the EU without a deal on March 29.’
