Young chef progresses to the semi-final
A YOUNG chef has won the district final of a national cooking competition.
Bosses at Havant and South Downs College were brimming with pride when catering student Izabella Darmanin won the district final of the Rotary Young Chef contest on March 9.
She was among 12 competitors from the south of England and the Channel Islands who had to cook a three-course meal with ingredients worth no more than £20.
With her mackerel pate, pan fried cod loin and a white chocolate and passion fruit cheesecake she was crowned victorious.
She was presented with a certificate and a celebrity chef ’s cookbook by the mayor of Havant, Peter Wade, for her efforts.
The semi-finals will be held at Exeter College on March 30.
