Open day for sea rowing

ADVENTURERS are being urged to give an increasingly popular type of rowing a try amid hopes an open day could help realise the foundation of a new club.

A taster day for the so-called Fisa Coastal Rowing Club, at Northney Marina on Hayling island, will run from 10am until 4pm on Sunday, April 7.

The Fisa class of rowing sees racers take to the sea and navigate a 4km course made difficult by waves, tidal flows and fellow competitors.

Boats, rowers and coaches will be available to teach visitors more about the sport on the day, which they have described as ‘sculling on the sea’.
