PORTSMOUTH PUB ON THE HUNT FOR A NEW LANDLORD

-

A PORTSMOUTH pub that was previously Chester's Carvery and Steakhouse is looking for a new landlord.

The Compass Rose, in Anchorage Park, is looking for a new tennant landlord, with an annual rent of £20,000.

Multi-millionaire businessman Mark Smith turned the pub into a carvery last August, but the business is now owned by pub company Enterprise Inns, which owns more than 4,000 public houses across the UK.

The dining area of the Compass Rose can accommodate approximately 70 covers, currently offers a mid-market food menu, and is served by a trade kitchen that comes fully-equipped.

The living area for the landlord comprises of three bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen, and a bathroom

Paul Gill, a regional manager of Enterprise Inns, said the pub presented a 'fantastic opportunity' for an experienced publican looking to run a busy pub.

He said: ‘Currently, the customer base is made up of shoppers, local residents and workers from the nearby industrial units, and the new operator will need to ensure an appropriate food and drinks offer continues to attract existing custom.

‘With ample parking and good road links, potential exists to attract customers from further afield by developing the food offer.’

The pub had previously been banned from selling alcohol after a huge fight broke out at the end of an 18th birthday party in 2014.

Around 40 people were involved in the brawl outside the public house, with one man needing surgery on his hand.
