In the photograph, below right, we are looking up North Street, Havant, in the 1920s. On the right is the White Hart pub which was recently closed and is now a gaming hall.

Running across is the A27, an old Roman Road from Chichester to Winchester.

At one time South Street – which is behind the camera – and North Street were the main roads to London from Hayling Island. It joined the A3 at Horndean.

There is an ulterior motive for putting in this photograph.

I am at the moment putting together another two books of thenand-now photographs. One is of Portsmouth, of which I have many pictures.

The other is of the Havant area. I am somewhat short of photographs of Bedhampton and Leigh Park, especially Leigh Park when the estate was first built in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

If you could assist I would be very grateful. I would not have to take them out of your house. I can photograph a photograph.

Please contact me through The News office or by email. Thank you.
