‘We have the quality to do well’
Gosport & Fareham are looking forward to the new challenge which lies ahead of them after dropping to London 3 SW.
This season the team will be led by Aidan Price, below, who is looking to build on all the positive aspects of 2018/19.
‘This is the second year of our three-year plan where we are looking to develop players,’ said head coach George Hillan.
‘Starting in this division has allowed the team to consolidate and regroup and I know we have the quality players to do well this season.’
Whilst the 2nd XV start their season with a trip to Overton, the 1st XV’s first league match is home to Old Tiffinian.
The club are aiming to continue their winning start to the season following a Hampshire Cup win on the Isle of Wight.
Locks Heath Pumas start their Hampshire 1 League campaign with a tough match at home against Tottonians 2nd XV.
Head coach Liam Moggeridge declared himself ‘very pleased’ with pre-season, including the arrival of six new faces.
‘Fixtures against Alresford, Christchurch, Aldershot and Overton have got us in great shape and all squad members have been exposed to our game plans,’ he said.
‘Saturday will be a real test of our organisation, facing a tough Totts side.
‘We are expecting a physical challenge and a well organised unit. But we pride ourself in our physicality and defence.’
