Calling out of Liverpool

‘It’s sounding heavy,’ says singer Sean Martin from The Night Café about their debut album. Are we talking about headthumping, riff-tastic, rock epics? ‘Nah, I mean like heavy,’ he insists. It’s a Scouse term the rest of the band agree fits the bill and whether you’re from their home town or not you’ll soon be starting to get on their wavelength. The album, 0151, was released last month and has been a long time coming for the Liverpool four-piece. It follows two highly acclaimed EPs – 2017’s Get Away From The Feeling and 2018’s Bunkbed, which amassed more than 30m streams. And they are definitely aiming high – they set themselves the task of making a timeless album that will propel them into being one of the nation’s biggest bands. While the band originally formed as an 'excuse not to do homework,’ drummer Carl Dillon says that the album ‘feels like we’re making a massive piece of art’. They play Hampshire as part of their biggest headline tour to date.
