How much has really changed in 400 years?
Following a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Breach theatre’s award-winning production It’s True, It’s True, It’s True will be at The Spring, Havant, for one night only on October 5. The production is based on transcripts taken from the 1612 trial of Agostino Tassi, who was accused of raping fellow painter Artemisia Gentileschi while he was tutoring her at her father’s house. Sticking closely to the original research but using modern language and featuring an all-female cast, as the trial progresses and testimonies of situations all-too familiar to a 21st century audience begin to emerge, we’re left asking how much has really changed in the past 400 years? The production has proved to be in the vanguard of the cultural aftershock of the #MeToo movement. The performance is at 5.30pm. Go to thespring.co.uk.
