Donation will fund winter beds for homeless

-

DEVELOPERS building 200 homes in Lee-on-theSolent have put some money towards the area’s rough sleeper problem.

Wates Residential, the company behind the Daedalus Village site, has donated £500 to Hostel 101 in Gosport Road, run by homeless charity Two Saints.

Hostel rooms are available all night, and include a free hot snack and breakfast.

The money will be used to buy water bottles, hygiene products, hats, gloves and more - essential items for rough sleepers spending their winter out on the streets.

Wates Residential’s construction manager Richard Manville said: ‘As temperatures drop, it is more important than ever to support homeless people and ensure they have access to basic items others take for granted.

‘At Wates Residential, we are passionate about making a difference and are pleased to have been able to support the work that Hostel 101 and Gosport Borough Council are doing.

‘We hope that this donation will help make a much-needed difference in the run up to

Christmas and beyond.’

After getting the items for Gosport’s rough sleepers, Georgina Joyce from Two Saints thanked the developers for their support.

She said: ‘This generous donation is very much appreciated and will help support our vulnerable clients, especially those that may be sleeping rough during the cold winter months this year.’
