Smile costs nothing

-

Thank you Mr Garbutt for your good wishes and I’m not surprised to read that you do indeed talk to those you come across in your daily ‘ramblings about’ up there in Waterlooville!

One might think that since the high street is apparently on the decline… that the shops still on the high streets would be doing their upmost to maintain a high standard of customer service?

In Southsea, we still have some shops where open can always be assured of a very positive experience as a shopper. One of the best is Robert Dyas. Some of the staff have been there ‘for ever’. Their customer service and product knowledge is impressive, so well done you! Another shop that seems to be ‘on the up’ is Superdrug, where I’ve always found the young staff friendly and helpful. Iceland staff are also generally cheerful and helpful and yes! I’m the lady who’s always asking them to please get someone else on their tills! A smile costs nothing. A few words cost a bit more effort but some of these interactions might well be the only ones that some customers will be getting through their days… People, slow down! Stop being in such a tearing hurry, try being a little bit slower and a little bit interested in those around you! It’s amazing what you can learn!
