Farewell Jim Smith

So, farewell Jim Smith, pictured above, a fantastic manager and passionate football enthusiast.

He helped nurture Kit Symonds, Andy Awford and Darren Anderton, and brought us two games against the mighty Liverpool at Highbury and (heartbreakingly) the Villa Park replay.

For a few games then, I wore a U-Need-Us latex bald head with “Jim” written on it .

He then formed a brilliant partnership with Harry Redknapp to get us promoted in the early 2000s (who can forget the song “Arry and Jim, top of the League ...” ?)

This note leaves me sad in two ways, Jim Smith, a legend at Fratton, has gone, and I no longer need the latex bald head – I have my own.

My thoughts are with his loved ones.
