AS the long awaited Stars Wars: The Rise of Skywalker finally goes on general release, there’s a further treat for fans to look forward to at next May’s Portsmouth Comic Con.

At the annual event, just ahead of the official Star Wars Day, fans of the franchise will have the chance to meet Troy Alders, who has served as art director for Lucasfilm/Disney Consumer Products for more than 25 years.

And visitors are encouraged to bring a selection of their best work and let Troy see if they have what it takes to create for the ever-expanding Star Wars galax.

Troy will join other stars of the comic book and art world in Artists Alley, sponsored by Catawiki. His career began designing film posters in the 1980s in Hollywood, and then as art director of music merchandise for the biggest names in music at Winterland in San Francisco. With 35 years of experience as an art director and graphic designer in the industry, Troy has won numerous awards and had work exhibited across the US, Europe and Asia. Other notable guests in the Artists Alley include Gary Erskine and Rick Leonardi, who worked on Dark Horse comics’ Darth Vader series. A whole host of impressive Star Wars cosplay characters will be brought by GoGeek

Events, and The Isle of Wight Garrison of the 501st Legion, the largest Star Wars costuming group in the world, will also return.

Taking place at Portsmouth Guildhall on May 2-3 next year, Saturday’s theme is Celebration of Female Superheroes and it’s A World of Witchcraft and Wizardry on Sunday.
