Hawks won PSC three times in four years

-

Moneyfields, Baffins Milton and US Portsmouth are the three clubs still left in the Portsmouth Senior Cup who have won it in the last decade.

Joe Briggs led the spree with a hat-trick as Moneys thumped Hampshire Premier Leaguers Paulsgrove 7-1 in last season’s Fratton Park final.

Moneys were due to face holders Hawks, but the latter withdrew citing a lack of players following relegation from the National League.

Paulsgrove - beaten 7-0 by the Hawks in the semi-final were then invited to take the latter’s place in the final.

Moneys also won the PSC in 2013, beating Baffins Milton 2-0.

The were finalists in 2012 and 2014 as well - losing 4-3 to US Portsmouth in the first year and 4-2 to Baffins in the second.

Moneys took a first minute lead in 2014 through Jake Raine, but Jason Parish, Sam Willett, Blue Boam and sub Chaz Gardener hit back for lower division Rovers.

Warren Hunt grabbed

Moneys’ other goal and they ended with 10 men when skipper Russell Rackley received a second yellow.

Hawks won the PSC in 2015, 2017 and 2018 - also losing the 2016 final.

In 2015 goals from Jake Gale (2), JJ Hooper and Liam Kimber gave them a 4-2 win over Petersfield Town - Andy Todd and Mike McEnery replying.

A year later, Kimber fired Hawks into the lead against Baffins - but the Hampshire Premier League champions hit back through Jamie Musselwhite, a Jake Knight own goal and a late clincher from Gardener.

In 2017 the Rams were again losing finalists, this time thumped 5-0 with Alfie Rutherford plundering a hat-trick after Jason Prior had grabbed the first two goals.

Hawks retained the silverware 12 months later when second half goals from James Hayter (2) and Rutherford gave Lee Bradbury’s men a 3-0 win over AFC Portchester.

Hawks did not enter this season’s Portsmouth Senior Cup.
