Whiteley’s milestone event won by Martin
There was another landmark reached in the latest Whiteley parkrun.
For each of the 431 finishers that completed the course were part of the milestone 150th event.
A new record attendance was nearly set, but the field fell just short of the course record of 460.
Martin Stockley (Eastleigh RC, below) was the first runner home in 17:12.
Patrick Stephenson (Denmead Striders) was three seconds adrift in second place.
It was the 49th parkrun he had completed, but his firstever at Whiteley.
Joshua Goldfinch was third in 17:21.
Charlotte Chalwin (Basingstoke & Mid Hants AC) was eighth overall and first female to finish in 18:18.
■ Lewis Banner continued his fine record in the Lee-onthe-Solent parkrun.
The Stubbington Green Runner has now been first home on each of his past six visits to the course.
This time he clocked 16:26 - a personal best at Lee.
Banner’s club-mate, Phil Morgan, was second in 18:35.
In total, five Stubbington Green Runners made up the top 10, with Mark Westbrook (fifth; 19:29), Graham Martin (sixth; 19:31) and Josh Cullen (10th; 20:07).
Gosport Road Runner Nikki Moxham was ninth overall and first woman to finish in 19:47.
Teenager Grace Park (31st) was second in 21:45.
■ Zippy Grice’s persistence finally paid off in the Fareham parkrun.
The Portsmouth Triathletes member had finished as runner-up on each of his past four visits to the course.
But in the latest event he was first home in 18:31.
Zara Scrivens (junior female 11-14) was 44th and first female to finish, with Fareham Crusaders’ Debbie Taylor (W50-54) second in 61st in 25:19.
