Nothing in place to retain loan star Seddon

-

KENNY Jackett has revealed no agreement is in place to turn Steve Seddon’s Fratton Park stay into a permanent presence.

The impressive left-back, pictured by Joe Pepler ,is currently on loan with the Blues for the remainder of the season.

However, his Pompey future beyond the summer has not yet been discussed with parent club Birmingham City.

Seddon signed a three-year deal with the Championship side last summer, indicating the high regard they hold for the 22-year-old talent.

Following five outings in the opening half of the season, he was last month allowed to join Pompey for regular first team football.

And Jackett insists there have been no further talks on retaining the defender.

Pompey’s boss said: ‘There is no option with him, we have a loan for the rest of the season.

‘At the moment the contract is what it is. As a club, we have been pleased with Seddon. He has done very well, but the loan is for this season.

‘There haven’t been any discussions about what happens after then.

‘I don’t know what his situation is at Birmingham. I wouldn’t really be able to talk for them.

‘We watched Seddon at Stevenage and AFC Wimbledon, and he had good loans there as well.

‘Pompey is a bigger stage and bigger club, and he is building up quite a nice number of games for somebody who is 22.’

Seddon has made seven appearances since his January arrival – with Pompey winning them all.
