Boost for air medics working in the crisis
AIR ambulances across the UK will receive vital equipment for use in their battle against Covid-19 – thanks to a generous £160,000 donation from Lions Clubs.
Air ambulance have been supporting the NHS and other public services during the coronavirus outbreak.
Research undertaken by Lions Clubs of the British Isles and Air Ambulances UK sought to understand the impact of the virus on air ambulance services across thecountry.
The boost will also go toward the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Lions Clubs’ council chair, Stewart Sherman-Kahn said: ‘During lockdown, Lions clubs have continued to help out in their local communities, and we’ve already given £140,000 in grants to foodbanks and other causes.’
Equipment funded by Lions includes isolation capsules and decontamination units, PPE, ventilators, respirators and hoods.
Other items include a thermal screening camera and monitoring system.
