Coronavirus has shown us what is important

-

We have learned many things during the course of this pandemic and many haven’t been too positive. We must never forget the human toll which is now over 40,000 deaths.

We have learned that a crisis will bring out the best in most people as we have seen with neighbours being neighbourly and complete strangers going out of their way to help others.

We have learned how to work from home and we have learned how to communicate without being face to face.

Many surprising things have come out of the pandemic.

And one of those appears, as we are coming out of lockdown and all that that entailed, is how being forced to stay indoors has made us look at where and how we live and what is important to us in terms of our surroundings.

Estate agents in the Portsmouth area and its surrounds are seeing their businesses boom.

One estate agent has just had its busiest month since it opened for business in 1883.

People are now realising that space is important – outside space so we can exercise in the safety and isolation of our gardens and inside space so that we can avoid that daily commute and work from home without being cramped on one end of the dining room table or sitting on the sofa with a laptop on our knees and trying to concentrate while the rest of the household goes about its daily routine.

The housing market of course has been helped by the chancellor’s suspension of stamp duty until March next year.

Most of us had been content with our lot up until the early months of this year when everything was turned upside down by coronavirus.

We can only hope that if anything positive comes out of the past few months we at least have had our eyes opened as to how we want to live and what is important to us.
