Portsmouth lecturer to star in new TV series

A CITY academic will apply his expertise as part of a new crime series for TV.

Senior lecturer in criminology and policing at the University of Portsmouth, Dr Brian Frederick, will appear as an expert for 20 episodes of Meet, Marry, Murder, which will be broadcast in the US later this year and investigates real-life cases of intimate partner homicide in the United States.

Over two days of filming, Dr Frederick delved into 13 cases that range from a man who recently killed his wife as a result of the lockdown in the mid-west United States, to a woman who employed her father to assassinate her husband on his front porch.

Dr Frederick said: ‘The nature of these true crimes are shocking and fascinating in equal measures. I love getting into the criminal mind and explaining what makes it tick.’

A UK version of Meet, Marry, Murder is already in production for viewers on this side of the Atlantic, with episodes due to be released later this year.
