Blues injury blow as Curtis takes picture of himself wearing a protective boot

-

RONAN CURTIS has pictured himself wearing what looks to be a protective boot after being substituted during Pompey's draw at Rochdale.

The Republic of Ireland international was replaced by Ellis Harrison on 79 minutes in the goalless stalemate on Sunday.

Curtis, who wasn’t hapy with the decision, came off shortly after being on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from a Dale player at Spotland.

In his post-match interviews, manager Kenny Jackett said the winger was fine after picking up a knock.

But it appears his injury puts him at risk of being ruled out of the Blues' clash against Wigan at Fratton Park this Saturday – and possibly even beyond that.

On his Instagram story, Curtis posted a photo of his right ankle looking suspiciously safeguarded by a protective boot.

Certainly, it will be a blow to Kenny Jackett's side if the winger is absent for the Latics’ visit to the south coast.

Pompey, who sit 17th in the table, are aiming to pick up their first League One win of the season, after also drawing 0-0 with Shrewsbury on the opening day of the League One campaign.

Curtis is one of the Blues' chief attacking threats, registering 14 goals and 12 assists last season as he finished joint-top scorer alongside John Marquis.

This term, he's notched one goal and created two for the Blues.

Championship side Brentford were keeping tabs on the former Derry City man earlier this summer, although Pompey have steadfastly said he's not for sale.

Curtis is under contract at Fratton Park until the summer of 2023, after signing a new three-and-half year deal back in February.
