Hundreds of babies left unregistered
HUNDREDS of babies born in the pandemic have not been registered.
West Sussex County Council, covering Emsworth, said around 400 had not been registered – with 500 unregistered born in the last six weeks.
The council admitted its appointment system is very busy with some areas booked up weeks in advance.
Parents are being encourage to get in touch as the law requires them to do so within 42 days.
Registration was put on hold during lockdown, but was restarted in June, with the county needing to sort 2,000 babies.
