What’s in a metre?

-

In response to Rob Guyatt’s letter (Distancing, September 12), who believes that the older generation have more understanding as to what one metre is.

Mr Guyatt, I'm one of those older generation, 66 heading up 67!

Very often, I go out of my way to distance from youngsters who are otherwise ‘engaged’ but also on a daily basis I've had to speak to people, older than myself, to ask them to 'please step back’.

Mostly when I've turned around in a supermarket queue and almost fallen into them?! Most, surprisingly, seem to be surprised to be asked?

So please. It isn’t just the youngsters who don't know what one metre, or three feet three inches is.

I'd also add, My Guyatt’s last sentence reads: 'Come on you dim wits, get a life better still, go back to school'. Saying 'Get a life' means nothing, it’s nonsensical but it’s highly likely to receive a negative response or action… Pat Huxtable
