IN THE COURTS
A ROUND-UP of some of the recent cases before Portsmouth magistrates.
■ Paul Marriner, 37, of Prospect Lane, Leigh Park, admitted stealing £87.80 worth of items from One Stop in Hart Plain Avenue on May 18. Magistrates imposed a 12-month conditional discharge with £87.80 compensation to pay.
■ Dionne McLauchlin, 45, of Ibis hotel, Fratton Way, Southsea, admitted stealing £54.49 worth of goods from Waitrose in Southsea on January 29. She admitted stealing £60.37 worth of goods on January 23. Magistrates imposed a 12-month conditional discharge with £114.86 compensation to pay.
■ Harley Jones, 24, of Court Lane, Cosham, admitted two charges of drug driving in Clive Road, Kingston, on November 3 last year. He was caught with a cocaine byproduct his blood and cannabis. Magistrates fined him £200 with a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He was banned from driving for a year. ■ Amberley Baker, 24, of Walburton Way, Clanfield, admitted drink-driving in Rowlands Castle on July 10 in Whichers Gate Road. A test revealed she had 46 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35. Magistrates imposed a six-month community order with 10 days’ rehabilitation activities. She must pay a £90 victim surcharge and £85 costs. Baker also admitted being drunk in a highway in charge of a child.
■ Rafal Garbicz, 37, of Stroudley Avenue, Drayton, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath on July 10 when suspected of having committed a driving offence.
Magistrates fined him £450 with a 20-month ban.
He must pay £85 costs and a £45 surcharge.
■ Andrew Fullick, 22, of Fair Isle Close, Fareham, admitted sending a message that was indecent, obscene or menacing on November 17.
He admitted damage the day before in Gosport.
Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order with 60 hours' unpaid work and 15 days' rehabilitation activities. Fullick must pay a £90 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He must pay £400 compensation for the damage.
■ Terry Jones, 38, of Birdlip Road, Paulsgrove, admitted drink-driving in London Road on July 14.
A test revealed he had 85 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath while driving a black BMW.
Jones was fined £600 with a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
He was banned from driving for three years.
