Lacking sense?

-

I have felt for a while now that a more common sense approach to Covid19 is needed but sadly common sense is something that’s notoriously lacking amongst many politicians and academics.

Personally I’m not much of a believer in the Test and Trace system purely and simply because the virus takes a while to develop before you can get a positive test result.

As a result we are going to be getting negative tests results from people who are actually infected and by the time they test positive the damage has been done and they’ve infected others without even knowing they have the virus.

But even that is not the central point that needs addressing, which is the virus was deadly in April killing 18 per cent of those infected and now the mortality rate is 0.4 per cent and this is the same trend worldwide.

So instead of bothering wasting resources on Test & Trace, should we be concentrating on above all else in finding out why the virus has lost its potency?

Far too many young people are needlessly being tested and that’s resulting in a huge amount of extra positives of asymptomatic young people who are not even going to fall ill from the virus.

Sadly many of the most vulnerable are already dead and those left are being well-shielded by society now that we’ve become much better at taking the right precautions in care homes and the like.

The possibility that masks and social distancing measures is reducing the viral load isn’t proven.

But if it does prove to be the case that could mean a much less severe strain of the virus has evolved, one that the body’s immune system can more easily cope with and fight off, meaning we have no need to worry or introduce such draconian economy-destroying measures because Covid-19 deaths will actually be far less than the deaths from common flu.
