The Third Day on Sky Atlantic, then today (October 3) is a red letter day for you – as Sky Arts broadcast a live 12-hour piece of event TV that takes the viewer deeper into the story. For the uninitiate­d, The Third Day stars Jude Law as Sam, a dad who gets stranded on the mysterious island of Osea off the coast of the south of England and drawn into a weird cultish world.

Today’s show allows viewers to follow the events of a single day in real time. Cast members Jude Law and Katherine Waterstone will continue their role in the ongoing story, joined by Florence Welch in an acting role. Events will transpire in one continuous take, immersing viewers in the mysterious, suspensefu­l and cinematic world of The Third Day, blurring the lines between what is real and what is not....

It all starts at 9.30am...

The story continues on Tuesday as the drama enters its next phase of three one-hour stories back on Sky Atlantic. In this week’s (2am/9pm) show, Helen (Naomie Harris), arrives on the island for a family holiday, hoping to bond with her daughters...

Back in the real world, Who Do You Think You Are? returns to BBC One this October with another star-studded line-up. The celebritie­s set to unravel their family history in this four-part series include: Jodie Whittaker, who faces some fraught family history; David Walliams, who uncovers a relative’s traumatic experience during WWI and learns that entertaini­ng runs in the family; Liz Carr, who investigat­es an ancestor’s role in an attempted murder; and Ruth Jones, who unearths a family connection to the origins of the National Health Service.
