Man charged with burglary

A MAN has been charged following a spate of burglaries in Southsea.

James Peter Bartlett, 43, of Berkshire Close, Landport, has been charged with three offences of burglary and three offences of fraud by false representa­tion.

It follows a police investigat­ion into three burglaries on properties on Fawcett Road, Orchard Road, and St Andrew’s Road in Southsea.

In Fawcett Road a person tried to get in through the back door via a dog flap, while on Orchard Road a wallet and bank cards that were later used were stolen from the property. Cash, electronic­s and jewellery were also stolen from a flat on St Andrews Road.

All of the cases took place on Saturday, August 15.

Bartlett appeared at Portsmouth Magistrate­s’ Court on Tuesday, October 6 where he was bailed to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday, November 9.
