Maintenance work at Hard
PLANNED maintenance work will begin at a major transport hub in the city next week.
Contractors for Portsmouth City Council are due to work on the roof of the Hard Interchange and conduct some minor cabling improvements from October 12.
Buses will run as normal as the majority of the work, which is expected to take around two
weeks, will take place between 11.30pm and 5am. Cllr Lynne Stagg, the council's traffic and transport boss, said: 'We're sorry if this causes any inconvenience and are grateful for everyone's patience and understanding.'
It comes as The News has reported twice this year that works to fix tarmac have been
carried out at The Hard due to problems with its surface sinking. However, the council has confirmed these works are not linked to issues with the surfacing which is still a matter of discussion between the council with contractor Osborne and designer RoC Consulting.
The Hard Interchange opened in 2017 at a cost of £9.2m.
