Community centre gets £8,000 in funding

HOT dinners will stay on the table for isolated individual­s and families thanks to an £8,000 cash injection.

Abri Group has allocated the money to Landport Community Centre in Charles Street so it can continue to help those in need.

The centre is being used as a welcoming hub for those who have faced isolation during the pandemic.

Enable Ability runs the centre for the Landport Community Centre Associatio­n.

Hollie Sherred, partnershi­ps and events officer at Enable Ability, said: ‘I hope that we will carry on working together over the years to come.

‘Abri and Enable Ability, especially through the Landport Community Centre, have a lot to offer the community.’

The centre boasts social events, a repair shop for old IT equipment, a cafe and free IT training.

It is designed to be easily accessible for people with disabiliti­es.
