Probe into ‘gender reveal’ gathering

-

POLICE are investigating after a large group of adults attended a ‘gender reveal party’ near Portchester Castle despite the country remaining in lockdown.

The gathering, which was attended by more than 25 people, took place on Sunday.

In a post on social media, Fareham Police said there was no social distancing and masks were not being worn.

The account wrote: ‘We found a group of around 25+ adults close to Portchester Castle having a ‘Gender Reveal Party’.

‘None of them were social distancing or wearing masks.

‘They became abusive towards the officers who were dealing with them and eventually dispersed, only after they had all hugged and kissed each other.

‘This incident is now under investigation.’

The ‘gender reveal party’ was one of a number of Covid regulation breaches that officers dealt with around Fareham over the weekend.

‘Unfortunately we’ve come across lots of people who are breaching the current coronavirus legislation. This is very frustrating for the vast majority of us that are following the rules,’ the post continues.

‘We’ve found groups of youths congregating in the skatepark (which is closed until March 29) at Fareham Leisure Centre, a group of males in their 20s at Wicor Rec playing football and lots more.

‘We understand it may be difficult to keep fully up to date with the current rules, however sometimes people blatantly break the rules intentionally.

‘There is an end to all of this. Just follow the current rules. We’re all looking forward to summer. Please don’t ruin it.’
