Managerial duo back together with player they got from Dover and sold to Norwich

-

WITHIN 12 months, the Cowleys transformed him from a Dover Athletic defender into a Norwich City player.

Now they have reunited with Sean Raggett.

And the pair are eager to pick up where they left off by inspiring the no-nonsense 27-year-old to scale new heights at Fratton Park.

Plucked from National League Dover in August 2016, Raggett’s maiden season at Lincoln earned a move to the Championship the following summer.

Loaned back to the Imps for their return to the Football League, he would go on to make 75 appearances under the Cowleys at Sincil Bank.

And they are keen to once again work with him on the training pitch.

Pompey head coach Danny Cowley said: ‘Sean’s an incredible competitor.

‘I have been lucky enough to work with some really good resilient, robust boys and he is right up there, let me tell you.

‘We are going to work really hard here, we have an ambition to play higher in this division and our aim is to make the players better.

‘We give the provision, but the players have to buy into it. It’s always the players who deserve the credit for any improvement they make.

‘Sean made huge, huge strides in our last time together. We brought him from non-league and sold him to Norwich in 12 months, before getting him back on loan as part of the deal.

‘Our aim is to have the same impact on him this time that we did back then.

‘There are some areas for

Sean to work on and improve, but he also has some super strengths that he will continue to work on.

‘He really did develop at an incredible rate the last time we worked together.’

Now in his second season with the Blues, Raggett has totalled 80 appearances and seven goals. He is also an ever-present this term for a club which is bidding to secure a League One play-off spot.

Nicky Cowley added: ‘I actually said to Sean on Friday, it will be great to spend some time on him now toshowwhatwe have also picked up since we last worked together.

‘We really look forward to that.’

Pompey Academy goalkeeper Conor Manderson has travelled back to Ulster to link-up with the Northern Ireland under-19 squad.

He joins fellow countryman Eoin Teggart in reporting for national duty, with the winger currently with the under-21s.

Meanwhile, midfielder Harry Jewitt-White – who made two appearances in this season’s

Papa John’s Trophy campaign – has been called-up to train with Wales’ under-17s.
