Company donates laptops to keep carers connected

I-Serv Mechanical aiming to help ‘quirky’ ventures

-

A WATERLOOVILLE company has helped young carers stay connected in lockdown by donating laptops to a charity - and is now looking for its next community venture.

i-Serv Mechanical bought five new laptops for young carers charity MYTIME after hearing the organisation needed help providing devices for youngsters who were struggling during lockdown.

A plumbing, heating, AC and carpentry company located on Waterberry Drive, i-Serv Mechanical has been serving the wider Portsmouth area for the last nine years.

Seeing the impact that the coronavirus pandemic has had on the wider community, managing directors Lynda and Elliot Potter decided to begin focusing their efforts on supporting charities and fundraising champions.

Lynda said: ‘We heard about young carers who couldn’t get on with their work as they didn’t have laptops, so we bought five laptops so they could go forward with their learning.

‘Since we bought the laptops, we’ve also bought a nurse a bike after his got stolen from QA, and we’ve donated money to a lady who was running 100km for a cancer charity in Southampton.

‘We’ve also given money to Football For Cancer, and donated a £150 hamper for the Village Gym in Portsmouth when they were holding a three-hour exercise marathon for prostate cancer.

‘We care about our customers and community more than making a profit - we like to make our customers smile and it’s nice to do something for charity.’

Now, i-Serv Mechanical is looking for suggestions for future charity endeavours and is inviting local charity champions to get in contact.

The team is interested to hear from those who are doing something a bit different to support a charity or a good cause.

Lynda said: ‘We’re trying to do something each month.

‘There might be other people who want our help.

‘We’re open to offers from people trying to do something quirky or different.’

Anyone with a charity or fundraising cause who would like to enquire about support from i-Serv Mechanical is invited to email their suggestion to Lynda on her email at lynda@i-servmechanical. com.
