Charities can apply for extra funds boost

-

CHARITIES and community groups in the city are being encouraged to apply for funding for projects which matter to them.

The newly-rebranded Tesco Community Grants scheme will award funds to groups helping families access food and support.

Eligible projects will include breakfast or holiday lunch clubs, food banks, youth clubs or schools.

From July, community groups in Portsmouth will be selected to receive votes from the public to decide whether they receive £500, £1,000 or £1,500.

Among the schemes to benefit from Tesco funding recently was Stand Up Portsmouth, which used the money towards supplies for online arttherapysessions.

Keith Jackson, Tesco Community Grant manager, said: ‘We’re encouraging groups in Portsmouth to apply for funding as we hope to see the fantastic community work they provide to continue long into the future.’
