Back the Cowleys with cash, now

-

I must say how much I agree with Malcolm Garbutt (Letters, May 11).

I have been a Pompey fan for more than 50 years and I have had seen many lows and a few highs, but last season was abysmal.

We had three years in Division 2 and should have had no more than three years in Division 1.

Two dismal play-off campaigns should have been the end of Jackett and a new manager and new players were needed for the start of this season.

I know that Eisner wanted a slow build but he would surely have expected more. Perhaps if he gave the manager the money to invest in decent players it would help.

As detailed in The News, recruitment in January in particular has been terrible in the past few years. A mixture of out-of-contracts and loans won't cut it.

So, I say to Mr Eisner, you got a debtfree club on the cheap (in my opinion) so now is the time to back the Cowleys with some real money so we can get back to where we belong.

A first class striker (eg a ClarkeHarris) would be a good start.

Play up Pompey!
