-

Remaining COVID-19 restrictions are due to be eased on July 19 in what is being named Freedom Day! Pubs and eateries are gearing up for what they hope will be a return to some sort of normality with hospitality operators to allow queuing at the bar and more tables in dining rooms.

Capacity caps will be lifted and bars and restaurants will no longer be restricted to table service.

But how will the great British public celebrate the lifting of restrictions?

As the country approaches Freedom Day the nation’s food lovers have revealed what their lockdown last supper will be.

On Freedom Eve, July 18, Brits will be saying goodbye to lockdown by celebrating with a chippy tea, new national research has revealed.

The iconic fish and chips has landed top spot in a study to find out what meal the UK will order for their last lockdown supper.

The nationwide poll by Foodhub, one of the UK’s leading food ordering apps, reveals that almost one in five (18 per cent) will be ordering fish and chips the night before lockdown ends.

But the iconic chippy tea, was run close by curry (16 per cent) and pizza (12 per cent).

And there will be incentives out there to encourage the public to get out and about and return to the hospitality sector.

Young’s pubs are giving away 30,000 pints at its pubs to celebrate Freedom Day from July 19 to 25. Raising a glass to being together at the bar once again, pubs will be treating Young’s On Tap app users to a complimentary pint of Young’s Original.

The time has finally come to get together at the bar and what better way to celebrate than with a pint?

As nothing quite beats that feeling of a cold beer in your hand, the next round is on Young’s, who are celebrating the return of the pub.

To be in with a chance to get your hands on one, make sure you’ve downloaded and registered to the Young’s On Tap app and head to the ‘Your Treats’ section to receive a pint surprise.

In addition The British Beer and pub Association has welcomed the lifting of restrictions and says it will enable 2,000 more pubs to reopen.

To help with this it is supporting the Long Live The Local Campaign and is urging the government to reform VAT, beer duty and business rates.

Speaking on behalf of the hospitality industry UKHospitality has said the delay to easing restrictions from its original date of June 21 to July 19 had cost the sector £3 billion in lost revenues.

Now the so-called “rule of six” will be abolished, and restaurants and pubs will be able to open their indoor areas without restriction.
