Man, 36, arrested over teenager death crash
Caring mum, 18, killed near M27
A MAN has been arrested for death by dangerous driving and for being over the legal limit after a ‘loving and caring’ teenager was killed in a horror head-on crash close to the M27.
Mia Wort, 18, was travelling in her Ford Focus westbound on the A27 Kanes Hill in Bursledon on Saturday when her car was involved in a collision with a black Audi A3 travelling in the opposite direction.
The Southampton woman was taken to hospital after the crash where she died from her injuries.
A 36-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the drink-drive limit, for dangerous driving, failing to stop following a road traffic collision, aggravated vehicle taking and causing death by dangerous driving.
He was also arrested for causing death by careless driving and causing death by driving whilst disqualified. He has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
Paying tribute to Mia, her family said: ‘Words cannot express the heartache we all feel by having Mia taken away from us so suddenly and so unnecessarily.
‘She was a loving and caring daughter, sister and mother.
‘We watched with pride as she took her first steps as a new parent with her family by her side. She was looking forward to a long future with her daughter; this has now been taken away from her and leaves a void that can never be filled.
‘As a family we will pull together to ensure that her memory never fades away and that her daughter will know her mother.’
Officers have renewed their appeal for witnesses or anyone with information.
