Willett at the double in Deans’ friendly win

-

Zak Willett continued his fine start to life at Horndean with a double strike against two divisions higher Gosport Borough last night.

The former Paulsgrove striker had netted in previous friendly wins against Selsey and Chichester City.

And he struck twice as the Deans came from 1-2 down at half-time to beat Gosport 4-3 at Five Heads Park.

Rory Williams had fired Borough into an early lead from a free-kick, with Willett levelling shortly after.

Dan Wooden restored Borough’s lead before half-time, but Willett (2) and Harry Jackson were on target as Deans took control of the second half.

Brad Tarbuck grabbed a late consolation for Borough, who had drawn their first two friendlies against another Wessex League Premier Division side, AFC Portchester.

Baffins Milton suffered their first pre-season friendly defeat when they went down 3-2 at home to two divisions higher Worthing.

Will Seagar and Jasper Pattenden fired the visitors into a 2-0 lead inside the first five minutes.

Jamie White, who had netted in Rovers’ 4-1 weekend friendly win at Fleetlands, pulled one back but Frankie Perry made it 3-1 at the interval.

Spectators had to wait until the final minute for the final goal of the evening, Baffins’ James Cowan netting from the penalty spot.

An 81st minute own goal gave Fareham Town a 3-2 friendly win over the Royal Navy at Cams Alders.

Luke Slade (9) and Calum Benfield (27) had twice put the Reds ahead in the first half.

Moneyfields lost 2-0 at two divisions higher Salisbury. The match was hastily arranged after Hawks, who had been due to travel to Wiltshire, pulled out due to having too many players out injured.
