Geoffrey Brooking’s latest letter on ‘the way to salvation’ where his comments, in my opinion, are bigoted and not Christian.

I know little about the URC only that they originated from the congregational church, they may pray for people for healing as many Christian churches do, how can he say this is fake?

As for his attack on the Salvation Army a Christian non-profitmaking organisation formed in the Victorian times to help those in extreme poverty which they did and still do!

Their Christmas appeal goes solely to help the homeless and poor families and unlike other organisations a small donation goes a long way.

As for them singing at Christmas with a ‘big begging bowls,’ I suggest Mr Brooking has been watching too much of Mr Bean. I was told by someone in the SA well before the Covid restrictions that they weren’t able to do to sing carols on street corners and collect money as they were!

If Mr Brooking is so keen to look at scripture I suggest he broadens his reading of it, the apostle James 1v27 says ‘faith without works is dead’. Shall I mention at this point the ‘sheep and the goats too? The gospel of Matthew

25 v 42. James 2v14 -17 talks about pure religion visiting the orphans and widows. Maybe reading the gospel of Matthew 7v5 about looking at the mote in your own eye would be a good idea, before we start judging others.

Apart from anything else I should imagine running down other Christian denominations would put the majority of people off of the Christian faith!
