Unvaccinated university students have been urged by Prof Stephen Powis, medical director of NHS England, to get a Covid jab in freshers’ week to protect themselves and their peers.

SELFISH YOUNG?

Almost half (49%) of adults believe young people have acted selfishly in the pandemic by ignoring restrictions on their freedoms because of the lower risk to them. But the research, in New Scientist magazine, found that 31% believe the majority of youngsters have been selfless in following rules.

VETS HOOK A DUCK

A team of vets from Derby used the “hook a duck” fairground method on oneyear-old bulldog Ronnie after he swallowed a rubber duck whole. An endoscopy camera and a loop were pushed down the animal’s throat into his stomach to retrieve it.
