Diversionary tactics

-

When I set out to refute the Tony Hamlett assertive polemic there were no magic money trees backed by facts to establish the contrary, I was not surprised he would revert with contentious rhetoric irrelevant to the discussion (Socialist fantasy, January 19).

I reminded him that us Brits had to recognise our problems are largely made at home. I set out to prove that the fifth richest nation on earth as measured by nominal GDP, left most of its citizens grappling with rampant inequality while the richest one per cent possessed half the nation’s household wealth.

We needed to turn our backs on the shareholder value-obsessed Americandriven

economic model and move towards reforming the core institutions of our unfair capitalist society.

So, Tony let’s get down to brass tacks to legitimise the discussion. Either stop personalising your response, refute the facts in detail, or admit your diversionary tactic has failed miserably to establish there are no magic money trees.
