The Meon secure quarter-final spot

City of Portsmouth Sunday League side The Meon edged a five-goal thriller to reach the Hampshire Sunday Trophy quarter-finals.

Moneyfield­s striker Tyler Moret, Cameron Jenkins and Harry Bedford - back playing after a long absence with an ACL injury - got the goals to wrap up a 3-2 fourth round victory over Meon Valley Sunday League side Dingle Rovers at Bransbury Park.

The Meon, who play in Division of the Portsmouth Sunday League, are now looking for to a home quarter-final meeting with AFC Basing next month.

In the City of Portsmouth Sunday League Division 6, AFC Eastney Resrves maintained their 100 per cent record with a resounding 13-0 win over bottom-side King George Rovers.

Billy Tee, Connor Shaw and Tyler Bradock all chipped in with hat-tricks while doubles from Dean Edwards and Oli Markham completed the rout.

In Division 5, AFC Eastney’s first-team took all three points thanks to a 3-1 win over Waterloovi­lle Wanderers Reserves.

Ibrahim Jamal had handed Eastney an early advantage before Waterloovi­lle levelled to ensure it was 1-1 at the break.

But Knoxe Ndagurwa’s effort and a stunner from Ahmed Amin - lobbing over the goalkeeper - wrapped up the win for Eastney.

Elsewhere in Division 5, Southletic­o ran out emphatic 10-0 winners over Fratton Trades A with Alfie Conway striking a treble

There was also a double for Harry Heatherley with Dan Backhouse, Chadley Cadman, Perry Pout, Carl Reynolds and Clayton Saunders rounding off the rout.

Saturn Royale picked up a much-needed point as they drew 3-3 with fellow strugglers ACFC.

Matt Shaw, Guy Smith and Chris Welburn were all on the scoresheet for Saturn while Zac Mathews, Tom Winghan and Adam Cooper got AC’s goals.

Wicor Mill were beaten for just the second time this season after falling to a 5-2 defeat against Purbrook United in Division 1.

Joe Balloqui starred for Purbrook, grabbing a hattrick, while Dan Brown and Ash Willis also struck in the victory.

Seagull made the most of leaders Wicor dropping points with a 5-1 win over Freehouse.

Southsea United moved nine points clear at the top of Division 2 with a thrilling 7-4 triumph over Old Boys Athletic.

With second-placed The Meon involved in Hampshire Sunday Trophy action, United capitalise­d with Fred Penfold firing in a hattrick while team-mates Jake Knight and Jack Mulholland were at the double.

Bradley Harthill and Barry Jeans were lethal in front of goal, bagging five goals each, as second-placed AC Copnor romped to a massive 16-0 win over Horndean United in Division 3. There was also an own-goal while Dan and Jamie Hayter, Matt Jones, Junior Kamara and Ashley Downs completed the scoring in the one-sided affair.

Bransbury Wanderers pulled themselves further away from bottom-side Falcon with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against North End Lions.

Charlie Collins and Ben Rowley were on target for the Wanderers while Dominic Hann-Barry and Kent Pryer struck for North End.

AFC Solent thumped Cross Key Athletic 7-1 in Division 4 to move up into third position. Archie Drury netted a treble for with Jimmy Ruston’s double and one each for Jason Wheatley and Farren Jervis.

AFC Lakeside Refit’s Tom Andrew netted five times as he helped propel his side to a 9-3 win over Co-Op Dragons to keep hot on the heels of leaders The Prince of Wales.

Ryan Graham, Jamie Ford, Maurel Inamba and Steve Cunnington got Refit’s other goals.
