Parents want children to be safe – not playing sardines

-

Boris Johnson has reportedly asked for proposals to tackle the cost-of-living crisis without spending any public money.

He wants to cut childcare costs by letting childminders look after more than the now-permitted six children at once. Minsters chuckled that if Jacob Rees-Mogg can look after his six at once, surely childminders can do better. Never mind the army of ReesMogg nannies.

Reducing health and safety ahead of financial costs is inexcusable. Boris wants to allow nurseries to take in more children without employing extra staff. The childcare sector is overworked, underfunded and undervalued by our government. Parents want safe children not sardines.
