bout 12 billion Covid19 vaccines have been administered in less than 18 months, a staggering achievement even if global distribution has been uneven.

It is not such great news on other vaccinations. More than 30 million children have missed out and will be vulnerable to whooping cough, tetanus, diphtheria and measles. They still kill thousands annually. Southeast Asia and the eastern Mediterranean top that dangerous list.

The decline in routine vaccination is down to those who turn their backs on vaccines and steer children away from them. We’ve just had World Immunisation Week and it’s now more vital than ever for people to roll up their sleeves and get jabbed.
